      Hi,
what is the yearly costs for a household to purchase food if any, and what are the costs that are obtained if food goes to waste due to not being stored correctly and going bad?

        Hi Erik,

Apology for the delay. For more context, what project opportunity are you working on?

In the design brief, we mentioned that some Pu Ngaol villagers grow their rice, fruits and vegetables for domestic consumption, and they supplement it by buying food at the market. With these in mind, along with varying household size, earnings, capacity for food storage, etc., it’ll be a challenge to quantify their yearly budget for food and the amount of food waste.

If you want a broader and more holistic understanding of the lifestyle and agricultural practices of the villagers, I suggest you read this article on the SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROFILE OF 6 VILLAGES IN MONDULKIRI PROVINCE. While it’s an old publication, most issues still apply to date.

        I hope this helps.

        Regards,
        Jean
