    Hi Benedict,

    Thanks for your question!

    We don’t know the exact species of mangrove that would be planted by the Barron River, as there are a variety of mangrove species growing in Far North Queensland. However, you can assume that the mangroves planted would be the same as those already growing in the area (ie it wouldn’t be introducing a new species to the region).

    If you were interested in finding out more information about the types of mangroves that grow in Yirrganydji Country, I recommend doing some broader research beyond the EWB Challenge website – the Wet Tropics Management Authority website is a good place to start: https://www.wettropics.gov.au/mangroves
