        Hi Kate,

Yes, the houses have an interconnected piping system.

This article may give you insight into the water systems at play.

        Kind regards,
        Evelyn

          Hi Evelyn,
What are some of the pain points and issues regarding this piping system? What is something we can improve in the current system?
Do they have both a toilet piping system and a drinking water piping system?
Is there a different pumping system other than the old diesel system? If there is a solar system or a new system, when was it implemented?

          Kind regards,
          Ziming

            Hi Ziming,

Yes there is a toilet piping system and a drinking water piping system.
The newly implemented drinking water system comprising of:
            – a rainwater harvesting system installed on the ranger base and a charged downpipe system that feeds to the storage tank
            – 250kL tank
            – a pump, filter and UV system
This system is fully installed and operational. The system is well-sized for the current and foreseeable drinking water demand. However, conversations with community members have highlighted that the capacity of the system may be undersized if it were to be used for other domestic purposes in future.
The river water system is an older system that currently does not have an operating iron filter which has posed challenges in terms of staining facilities, corroding pipes overtime etc. The positioning of the river intake pump is buried within the river sands. There is a fire pump that is used when the river sands drop below that of the intake pump. The intake was supposed to be installed more deeply than what it is currently and extension of of this pump could potentially increase water quality.
I believe at the moment the diesel system is still in place with plans to work towards a solar system.

            Kind regards,
            Evelyn
