      Hi there, are any pests and diseases in the Yirrganydji Sea Country environment that we need to consider? I am currently working on the traditional fishtrap-inspired aquaculture.

        Hi Sam,

        Thanks for your question.

        You should consider the ecosystem of the Sea Country, including pests and diseases in your project, which you and your team should undertake some research to understand in order to get a more holistic understanding of the context in which your design would be deployed. As a starting point for your research, I recommend taking a look at the resources provided under Design Area 5, which outline how Dawul Wuru cares for Sea Country and what challenges they face in this, and broaden your research from there. You could also take a look at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority page on Reef Health as a great resource for the current status of the Great Barrier Reef. By doing this broader research, you will be able to determine what kinds of things you should be considering in your design proposal.
