      I was wondering how many communities are without mains power?

        Hi Adrian,

        In general, most communities in Cape York would not have access to electricity mains and instead rely on remote, stand-alone systems such as solar or diesel. However, it’s important to understand that these systems are limited in their electrical capacity and can run out if too much energy is used. I understand you’re looking at alternatives for washing machines, so I’d keep that in mind as washing machines tend to be energy intensive.

        I’d also recommend taking a look at Design Area 4: Energy and its associated resources which will give you an insight into energy usage in Cape York.
