What products are you currently using in terms of solar panels, batteries and inverter controllers? If possible, could the sizes and other specifications of these products be stated?

        Hi Lance,

Apologies for the late response. We are waiting for a response to your question from out community partners. Your patience is greatly appreciated!

We have our Stakeholder Insights Event this Thursday the 2nd of April from 2-3:15. It is an opportunity for students to ask questions to our community partners directly. If I cannot get an answer to you before then, I can try my best to include it in the Q&A on Thursday.

        Kind regards,
        Evelyn

            Hi Annie and Lance,

Unfortunately, I do not have this information available. I would recommend looking at other parts of Northern Queensland or even other remote communities in Australia and making informed assumptions based off of what you can find.

In the Community Insights Event the following was asked:
Q: Could you please speak to the current energy systems in place and if they meet the energy demand of the community?

A: Currently, the primary energy accessibility is through the diesel generator, but they also have solar as a subsidiary kind of energy provider based on the last visit. There was also planning for implementing more solar-based energy accessibility. During the dry season, they might increase that capabilities. Previously, there were bush light systems which were installed earlier but none that are currently functioning. We could look at how to utilise those available materials.

Some resources that may be helpful:

            Kind regards,
            Evelyn

would we be able to get a wiring diagram of the system, just looking to know how the panels are wired in series as normal or are they in parrallel

does the current system invert the 48v dc to 240v ac or is the whole place run off 48v somehow?

I would also like to know the model of the old panels as they might no longer meet australian standards and therefore may not be re usable

                    Hi Jordi,

Unfortunately none of this information is readily available to us. I would suggest doing some research on other remote areas in Queensland/Australia and seeing if the information you find can be applicable to this context. Apologies for the lack of information, I understand the difficulties of progressing with your project without specific information. However, this highlights the complexity of working in remote communities with limited available information.

                    All the best.

                    Kind regards,
                    Evelyn

Are the generators automatic start unit connected?
Have any additional loads been added that the generator is incapable or does not run off it
going off the 360 map pictures the generator looks to be a kobota low bpoy gl9000 in top camp and looks to be the same if not smaller at bottom camp, therefore im assuming the max load of the initial installation prior to bush light was running at a maximum of 33.3A as that is the max rating of the generator

                        Hi Jordi,

Great detective work – I would say that your assumptions are justified. And yes, I believe that the automatic start unit is connected to the generator.

                        Kind regards,
                        Evelyn
