As part of our design we are looking at using bricks made from recycled plastics and there appears to be various initiatives and companies in Timor-Leste that do this and I would like to contact them for more information surrounding costs, availability and transport of materials to Loidahar village. Am I allowed to contact them for enquiries or can I provide EWB with the companies and questions and let EWB contact them?

      Thanks

        Hey Christiaan,

It is not a requirement for you to know precise information around costs, availability and transport of materials. Instead, I would encourage you to make some reasonable assumptions based on what is available in the design brief and publicly available information.

It’s great that you’ve found other initiatives in Timor-Leste that are implementing similar ideas to yours but you’ll need to appreciate that these organisations may not be able to share this information due to commercial sensitivity. If your research indicates that these initiatives already exist, then you can use this to build your case that your design is possible in Timor-Leste (without having to contact them directly).

Additionally, we have about 10,000 students working on the EWB Challenge annually and so we need to be cognisant and respectful of stakeholders’ time and resources.

        Hope this helps.

        Cheers,
        Anthony
