Why no solar panels right now?

      Hello there,

      I wanted to ask why Saibai island doesn’t already have solar panels on everyone’s homes, or at least on key infrastructure.
      Is there some obstacle that has prevented this from happening?

        Hi Luca,

        According to the Sustainable Land Use Plan_Part 2 Saibai (2012), page 124 – “Any renewable resource would not be able to completely replace the existing base diesel generator sets as the demand on the island is too high for a renewable supply to support…”

        We suspect this issue is still prevalent that’s why solar panels are not widely installed yet. You can read further on that document from our Resources section.
