      Hello EWB Team,

My question is in regards to the effluent management. Where can I find how much waste is being processed and the percentage of solids, also what process units the plant is made up of and the size and power draw, how they work. What is the length of the process before its sent out to sea and the price of the chemicals. Also who do I talk to about regulations in the area?

      Thank you for your time

      Kind Regards

        Hi William,

It sounds like you are referring to the wastewater plant. I found this recent article: Roadtrain® Delivers Safe Environmental Discharge for Saibai STP from Hydrolux, the supplier of the packaged plant. This article states, “The process has been specifically designed to suit remote installations and standardized across The Straits in six locations.” Researching through their website will likely answer all your questions related to the technical specifications.

An excellent start to learning more about local regulations is to check our section on Introduction to Local Government in the Torres Strait.

        I hope this helps.

        Regards,
        Jean
