      Hi, for 4.1 were doing a micro- hydro power system for our design soultion, and were wondering if putting a intake pipe which takes water from the top of the stream is allowed, the natural water does go back to the river through the power station at the bottom of the stream, are there any cultural rules with not allowing to stop local rivers or streams that arent protected

        Hey Afiz,

        Great question, and an insightful one to be asking!
        To the best of my knowledge, there are not any known issues with what you’re describing. However, there is still the chance that there may be a cultural dimension to this idea that you’ll need to factor in.

        I would suggest that you proceed with this plan, but include in your report a short section on how you are aware of this potentiality and the engagement process you would undertake with community to understand those cultural considerations and to co-design an appropriate solution.
