For 1.6, my team was curious as to what airport in the area we refer to for existing infrastructure as the challenge discusses strengthening current operations. We just want a clearer idea so we can produce better catered solutions. Thanks!

Hi Adil,

Thank you for your question. For Design Area 1.6 you can refer to the Port Stewart Airstrip. the airstrip is managed by YAC and has received government funding under the Remote airstrip Upgrade Program.

Hi, since they were awarded funding in 2021 for Coen, to what extent were works completed on the resealing of the airstrip, and was additional funding provided for lighting or electrical infrastructure to improve safety etc?

Hi Krystle,

They are managing the airtrip and there is weekly service of Auspost to the Port Stewart from Cairns. They have not received any funding for lighting so far.

If available, are you able to supply details for the following about the airstrip,
– Width
– Length
– Surface type (ie dirt, clay, grass, etc)
– Height above the Port Stewart river and flooding considerations.
