Annual king tide calendars are produced by TSIRC (based on data supplied by the Bureau of Meteorology). These help predict major tide events and are printed or shared via community groups and schools.
For approximate timelines;
Initial awareness: 1–3 months in advance via tide calendars
Targeted preparation: Begins ~1–2 weeks prior
Immediate risk communication: 2–3 days out, and during the event itself
Communications are reliant on the network, which faces intermittent issues as described in the Design Brief and additional information documents. TSIRC have started to mobilise Starlink satellite systems to help address the issue.
