Cairns is generally susceptible to flooding, especially in the wet season, but some areas are more flood-prone than others. In my initial research, I couldn’t find a flood record specific to Wangetti.
The Cairns Regional Council has a fantastic resource about flood warnings and flood maps in different areas in Cairns. They also indicated where the flood cameras are installed, which is great to check if anything is near Wangetti. Also, look at the elevation and the structures of the surrounding area via Google Earth/Maps to assess if a stilt structure is necessary for the design.
