    Hi Nitish,

    The role of Elders varies between communities, but generally speaking their role is often to support, share knowledge and provide guidance to their communities. 

    We have a number of resources available to assist with understanding First Nations communities, and the Cape York context more specifically. I recommend taking a look at Reconciliation Australia – Share Our Pride website and Stories from Cape York, both of which can be found in our ‘Resources’ section. There are also resources online which can help you to better understand the role of Elders. 

    It’s great that you’re thinking about the community dynamics on Cape York and hopefully these resources help in shaping your understanding of how you might engage them in your design proposal.
