      Hi, would the walls of the existing burn pits be able to support the weight of a roof and chimney?

        Hi Sophia

        You can assume that a heavy structural roof and chimney is unlikely to be supported by the existing structure (as it only has 3 walls) however you might want to consider a lightweight roof and chimney that utilises local materials. If you design for lightweight materials, you can assume that the existing structure can support it.

        Smoke ventilation, absorption, fire rating etc are other factors you’ll need to consider.
