What are the local wood species surrounding Loidahar?

Curious to know as the type of wood (hardwood, softwood) as it can further dictate the range of materials and their purpose. Any other information relating to wood types and/or the composition of the area would be appreciated.

        Hi Christopher,

Great to see you are curious about potential alternative materials for your project.

I encourage you do your own research and see what you can find. As you’ve already suggested, the suitability of species will depend on what your intended purpose is for the timber. I also encourage you to have a think about any potential environmental impacts from harvesting certain species in Timor-Leste.

In terms of Loidahar, it would be acceptable for you to assume that if a species is available (and viable for use) in Timor-Leste, then it should be possible to get that material to Loidahar. Of course where possible, the more “local” a material is to Loidahar, the easier it will be to use but this may not always be possible.

You may also like to have a read of Agroforestry manual for Timor-Leste.

        Hope that helps.

        Cheers,
        Anthony
