      Hello,
I’m reaching out to ask if it is possible for you to answer the following question or guide me to the right resources in regards to the EWB challenge for Saibai Island. More specifically Design area 5.4 of Climate change adaptations (Climate adaptive food systems).

-What funding opportunities are available to support climate-adaptive food systems in the Saibai Islands, and how will their implementation influence the island’s economic flow, resilience, and sustainability?

Thank you, I look forward to hearing your response.

        Hi Samar,

It’s great to see that you are thinking about potential funding opportunities to support your design. TSIRC is not a rates-based council and therefore applies for State and Federal funding to deliver its projects.

For the EWB Challenge, cost is a key consideration. As part of your submission, we encourage you to suggest or assume potential funding opportunities or grants that could support the implementation of your design idea.

With the implementation of successful climate-adaptive food systems, residents of Saibai Island will be able to grow their own fresh food, reduce their reliance on imported fruits and vegetables and potentially trade or sell excess to neighbouring island communities. Creating pathways to promote the return to their traditional gardening practices that has existed for thousands of years would be very beneficial for community.

        Hope that helps.

        Cheers,
        Anthony
