What caused the iron filter to fail?

I understand the 2006 cyclone buried and broke the original intake infrastructure, but what caused the iron filter to fail? Wear of materials over time? Maintenance issues?

Which part of the filtration infrastructure is the iron filter a part of? The extraction? A specific water tank, etc?

And who has legal ownership and maintenance responsibilities over the iron filter?

        Hi Elo,

        Thank you for your question.

The iron filter is non-operational due to a combination of mineral fouling and maintenance challenges.

The iron filter comes after the intake pump system and is located at the elevated header tank.

I believe the infrastructure was handed over to the Lama Lama Community with training to maintain and manage the water system themselves. However, I am sure their is support from the partners and contractors who helped build the system.

        I hope this helps.

        Kind regards,
        Evelyn
