      Good Afternoon!

James here from Adelaide University. Our group is focused on design area 1.4 – the Modular Service Hubs. We are particularly looking at how Rangers load/unload and organise all the equipment they need while out on Country going about their various activities. Would it be possible to please gain a bit of an understanding about how they:
      a) Lift heavy objects (how do they load things like vehicle-mounted weed sprayers or intermediate bulk containers full of water onto the back of the ute?)
      b) Organise and transport different types of equipment for Ranger based work tasks e.g. do they take all equipment for everything all at once, or do they have to regularly return to the ranger base to drop off and pick up gear?
Hope to hear back from you soon.
      Thank you!

      James

        Hi James,

Thank you for your questions. Hope your project is progressing well.
From observations, quads are used to transport water in water tanks already attached to the vehicle. For different equipment they take it with them on 4WD at once. There is a central storage place where they keep all of the equipment.

        Hope this helps.

        Kind regards,
        Evelyn

          Hi Evelyn,

Thank you for your reply. Noted about the water and quad.

Our design is developed around the idea of streamlining the process of moving heavy gear on and off the back of a Ute, while also categorizing work equipment into kits based on different ranger workflows. While we have been able to gather some information about ranger equipment, would it be possible to get a specific and comprehensive list of equipment Lama Lama Rangers use themselves? This might be a big ask, but it is important info for our design.

Thank you again for your help. We very much appreciate it.

          Kind Regards,

          James and Team

            Hi James,

Unfortunately, I do not have a comprehensive list of equipment. However, I would take a look at the 360 Site Walkthroughs, specifically the Ranger Base photos and see what you can gather there. From my observations, I can see:
            – PCV piping
            – Hosing
            – Jerry cans
            – Various shovels, rakes etc.
The storage room photos at the Ranger Base are particularly helpful. See if you can pick out specific equipment in there. Apologies if this is very vague and if you have already done this. Feel free to make informed decisions on the types of equipment that they use based on the various jobs they perform e.g. weed monitoring, cattle management, remote communications

            Kind regards,
            Evelyn
