EWB Australia is hosting a panel event where you will hear from Wuthathi Traditional Owners from Cape York.

To support students during the 2021 EWB Challenge with the Centre for Appropriate Technology, EWB Australia is hosting a panel-style event that will allow you to engage with real-world Traditional Owners to learn about Aboriginal cultures and knowledges, what it’s like living on the Cape York Peninsula, and how you might consider these things in your design.

It will include a panel discussion, Q&A and then breakout sessions for further discussion and we encourage you to bring questions to the event. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students participating in the EWB Challenge from up to 16 universities across Australia and New Zealand!

Guest speakers will be joining us from Wuthathi Aboriginal Corporation. Wuthathi land and sea Country surrounds Shelburne Bay on the North Eastern coast of Cape York Peninsula.

You don’t have to prepare for the event – however we’d encourage you to think of some questions you would like to ask the guest speakers or EWB staff about Aboriginal culture, life on Cape York your design idea.

Will the event be recorded?

No, our panelists prefer to just have a yarn without recording.

I’m a course coordinator or tutor – can I attend the event?

Absolutely! We’d love to have you join in and ask a few questions to stimulate discussion, however we ask that you leave majority of the time for students to have the opportunity to interact with guest speakers and EWB Australia staff.

I have feedback about the event I’d like to share, who can I send it to?

We love to hear feedback to improve these types of events for future students and academics – please email it to ewbchallenge@ewb.org.au
